Car washes sell various fragrances. One is called "New Car". It may be what you want.Fragrances come in two ways. One of them looks like a cartoon of an evergreen tree and goes by the name "Little Tree". You hang it somewhere inside the car. The other format is a spray that can be water based or oil based. I would suggest you start with a "Little Tree". If you don't like it, you can get rid of the smell by taking it out of the car.

+1 on leather cleaner. Biggest problem with the new car smell thety are diffeent from each car. Sure we say "only new car smell" But they are different from one manufacturer to other. You can get some refreshener with leather smell and they are somewhat good bu won't be th same.

Just keep it clean, open a window. Actual new car smells are not what you want, for health reasons. Too many chemicals outgassing at once, not good. Best to purchase a slightly used car where worst of the outgassing is over.

+1I can't stand any type of "air fresheners" in cars. Yuck. Just keep it clean and don't let anybody smoke in it. I got cheated out of my new car smell on my S2000. It had been on the showroom floor with the top down.

| Quote, originally posted by InfinitiZ » | Any idea how to make that happen again? Can you buy something to get that factory car smell again like when you first buy a new car? I like to keep my g37 nice and clean from the inside, however I have not been able to do it recently because of hectic schedule... so when next time I do the interior cleaning... would I be able to get that factory scent? There have to be some kind of spray or something right.Modified by InfinitiZ at 9:36 PM 2/7/2010 |
There are several parts to the new car smell - smells from the car leather and plastics as well as the absence of added smells - french fries, you, etc. Infiniti's smell very bad when new - very chemical. I wouldn't try to add back the plastic smells. On the other hand, cleaning and shampooing the interior of the car, followed by a good leather conditioner like the Zaino one will make your car smell "new". Keep food out of the car - very easy to smell. Don't leave old laundry or sports equipment in the car for any longer than possible. Peter

So so true. If the OP really wants the new car smell, then letting some epoxy set with the windows closed overnight will get it close. Burning some plastic might also do the trick.
